English: Fort Großfriedrichsburg was built in 1683 (start of construction: 1st January 1683) at the village Pocquesöe (contemporary Princesstown (Ghana)) at the foot of the "Mount Manfro" according to a contract with local Ahanta chiefs from 16th of May, 1681. The fort was sold to the Dutch W.I.C. in 1717, but the fort was committed to the native war lord Jan Conny who defended it against the Dutch still to 1722. The Dutch called this post Fort Hollandia.
