English: The Gandhara Buddha Wihan was built on the order of King Rama IV south-east of the ubosot. It was built for the installation of the Gandhara Buddha used in the Royal Ploughing Ceremony and the Rain Making Ceremony.
Right next to the wihan is the Yod Prang Mondop situated on the same base. It was built to house a northern style chedi which King Mongkut (King Rama IV) obtained while he was still a prince and monk during the reign of King Rama III.
The pracrice of situating a wihan with a Buddha image and a stupa behind with a relic was common during the Sukhothai and Ayutthaya periods, so that worshippers could pay respect to both at the same time.
