These are copies of a set of four almost identical metalwork panels of bishops, formerly used as reliquaries of Valentinus, Candidus, Monulph and Gondulph, bishops of Tongeren-Maastricht. The 12th-century originals were displayed with the reliquary chest of Saint Servatius (Noodkist) on a purpose-built altar in the Church of Saint Servatius in Maastricht, Netherlands. The originals were sold in the 19th century and are now in the Royal Museums of Art and History (Cinquantenaire Museum) in Brussels, Belgium. At two occasions, the church of Saint Servatius had copies made. One set of copies is exhibited with the Noodkist in the north transept of the church; the other set now constitutes a Romanesque Revival shrine in the church treasury.
