Built in 1886, this Folk Victorian-style house at 11 West Gilman Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was constructed as a rental property by Mrs. S. H. Carpenter. It was expanded in 1953 when it was converted into apartments (see the Property Record online).
The house features a gabled ell layout with a front and side gable roof, wooden clapboard-clad exterior, replacement windows, an enclosed front porch, concrete-clad stone base, and a decorative Queen Anne-style attic window.
The house is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
