English: In Canada, many of the churches in this category ceased to be Presbyterian churches due to the 1925 merger of four Protestant denominations into the United Church of Canada. In response to the merger, however, 302 out of 4,509 congregations of the Presbyterian Church chose to withdraw from the institutional Presbyterian Church and reconstitute themselves as a "continuing" Presbyterian Church in Canada.
