English: In the 1890s and 1900s, the Boston and Maine Railroad held annual floral display contests where station agents would compete to beautify station grounds. Several stations in Arlington (Brattles, Arlington Center, Lake Street) and Belmont (Hill Crossing) were frequent winners.
