English: The First Baptist Church is located at 2624 Dumbarton Street NW in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The congregation, founded in 1862 by former slave Reverend Sandy Alexander, originally met in a small building called The Ark at 29th and O Streets NW. The church was built in 1882 and is a contributing property to the Georgetown Historic District.
