English: The so-called "Baffo" (moustachioed) cab is a cab-over design used by Fiat for their heavier trucks from 1955 until the early 1970s. The range was gradually replaced between 1970 and 1973, although special models such as the 639 N3 4x4 was built until 1976 and the 690 N3 continued into the eighties - still being built in Nigeria until 1989. Models using this cab are: 639, 642, 643, 671 for the 2.2 metre wide cab, 619, 682, 690, 693 for the 2.4 metre wide one.
Early models have sliding windows. In 1956 turn signals were mounted front and side, and in 1960 the suicide doors were replaced by front-hinged ones with roll-down windows. A short cabin was introduced in 1959 for the 650, 645, 662. In 1963 the grille lost its bars, replaced with a grating. In 1967 a new heavy-duty version for the 683 N and the 619 N appeared, with the headlights mounted in the bumper.
