The U.S. Navy acquired 18 modified Block 30 F-16Cs (F-16N) and four F-16Ds (TF-16N) for use as adversary assets for dissimilar air combat training (DACT) in 1987-1988. Due to the high stress of constant combat training, the wings of these aircraft began to crack and the Navy retired the planes in 1995. In 2002, the Navy received 14 F-16A/B, which are not designated F-16N/TF-16N.
