English: Smilde is a village about 16 kilometres south-west of Assen on the main Assen-Meppel road. Hoogersmilde, another village in the same commune, is 2.5 kilometres south-south-west of Smilde. The cemetery is on the northern outskirts of Smilde, 180 metres west of the main road to Assen. The war graves are in the south-western part. There are now a small number of 1939-1945 war casualties commemorated in this site.
Nederlands: Het erehof Smilde is gelegen op de algemene begraafplaats van Smilde nabij Hoogersmilde. De graven liggen aan de westzijde van de begraafplaats. Het betreft de bemanning van een Avro Manchester (R5779) bommenwerper van het 83e squadron. Dat vliegtuig stortte neer bij Oranje op 9 maart 1942.
