English: Dnepr or Dnipro (Russian Днепр, Ukrainian Дніпро) — trade mark of Soviet tape recorders with vacuum tube electronics, manufactured by Kiev Radio Equipment Factory (later known as Mayak) since 1949 to the early 1970s. The production models were branded with Ukrainian language (Дніпро) or Russian language (Днепр) labels. In 1971 the factory introduced their first transistorized model for the mass market, the Mayak 201. The Dnepr/Dnipro marquee was then retired and replaced with Mayak. The synonymous Dnipro (Дніпро) tube radio receivers were manufactured not in Kiev but in Dnepropetrovsk (now Dnipro).
