English: Deutschland erwacht. Werden, Kampf und Sieg der NSDAP (English: "Germany Awakes. The Becoming, Struggle and Victory of the NSDAP") is a cigarette card album (Zigarettenbilderalbum, Sammelbilderalbum) with 151 pages sized 27,5 x 32 cm, consisting of 255 mounted b&w and coloured photo cards, etc. with captions and text in Fraktur typeface, produced by Cigaretten-Bilderdienst Altona-Bahrenfeld, Germany in 1933. The propaganda imagery show members, history, activities, events, etc. of the German Nazi Party NSDAP in the 1920s and early 1930s.
The text is written by Wilfrid Bade (1906 – 1945) and others, most of the photos are taken by the studio of NSDAP photographer Heinrich Hoffmann (Die Auswahl und künstlerische Durcharbeitung der Lichtbilder übernahm Heinrich Hoffmann. Text von Wilfrid Bade.) Line drawings by Felix Albrecht (born 1900)
Scanned versions of the work are found at archive.org. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) is unaware of any copyright restrictions for this item: A large archive of Hoffmann's photographs held by the National Archives and Records Administration are in the public domain in the US owing to their status as seized Nazi property, otherwise their copyrights would not yet have expired (although the studio closed down after the end of the war in 1945). The production of German cigarette card collector's books/scrapbooks stopped, due to the Second World War, in the early/mid 1940s. The photographs of Hoffmann are copyrighted in Germany until 70 years after Hoffmann's death. They will enter the public domain in Germany only on January 1, 2028.
