出格子 (でごうし; literally "protruding kōshi" [see Rendaku]) De-goshi are latticed bay windows, often protruding at ground level, found in Japanese townhouses.[1]
The bottom of the bay may be above-grade, or it may protrude simply in that it extends to the edge of the sidewalk, beyond the usual line of the facade.[2]
