David of Marlot (15 juli 1593, Montbéliard – oktober 1680, The Hague), born as David (de) Morlot, son of Josef (de) Morlot and Catharina de Virot. David de Morlot was lord of Bavois, Offenberg, Praest and Lichtenberg. David of Marlot became an officer in the army of the Netherlands Republic and later President of the High Military court. He was a personal friend of stadtholder Frederick Henry of the Netherlands and became one of the governors to his son William II, Prince of Orange. On 14 February 1646 stadtholder Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange, created a new lordship just to the north of the city of The Hague, named it 'Marlot' and bestowed his friend David van Marlot with the lordship of Marlot.
