The David T. Sorenson and Nels E. Frederickson Duplex located at 21 East Gorham Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was built in 1863 with an Italianate design (see the Property Record online). Additions were made in 1914.
The apartment building features wooden shingle cladding, a low-pitch hipped roof, wide overhanging eaves, decorative window trim, one-over-one double-hung windows, a front porch with Doric columns, paneled railings, a cornice with dentils, an open brick pier foundation, a stone base clad in stucco, a one-story bay window on the side facade with a cornice featuring brackets and dentils, and two front entrance doors.
The building is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
