Dark slope streaks are common on Mars. They are caused by bright dust sliding down slopes. When the bright dust moves away, the dark underlying surface is exposed. They may be triggered by the sonic blast of asteroids striking the Martian surface. They gradually fade as bright deposited on the surface.
