A dark pattern is a usually intentionally applied anti-pattern in interface design that tricks users into taking decisions that are less favourable for themselves but more favourable to the provider of the interface. Common instances include "cookie consent tricking", "Privacy Zuckering", "bait-and-switch" and similar approaches.
