English: Daniel Ken "Dan" Inouye (1924–2012) was a U.S. Democratic politician from Hawaii, and a recipient of Medal of Honor, the highest U.S. military award, for his action in World War II. He was U.S. Congressman (Representative 1959–1963, Senator 1963–2012) continuously from the day of Hawaii statehood until his death, and the second longest-serving U.S. Senator in history. Before Hawaii statehood, he was in Hawaii's territorial House of Representatives (1953–1957) and Senate (1957–1959).
