- DOCUMERICA was a program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to photographically document "subjects of environmental concern" in the United States from about 1972 to 1977.
- The DOCUMERICA photographic assignments focused on several themes that are not otherwise well-represented on Commons. These include images of EPA projects and employees at work, water pollution in the U.S., air pollution in the U.S., waste in the U.S. (with related topics such as garbage dumping, recycling and landfills), suburbanization, and "urban renewal".
- DOCUMERICA also contains images of industries and agriculture that are less important or now absent from the United States, such as the steel industry and logging in New York State.
