Dödens Engel (the Angel of Death) is written by Johan Olof Wallin in the time of Cholera in Sweden 1834, but were first printed after Wallins dead 1839. This poem has since than been printed in different versions with different illustrators, for ex C G Hellqvist and Carl Larsson.
At 1851 the first illustrated version of the poem was printed by Isaac Marcus in Stockholm for Philipp J. Meijer.
At 1875 Carl Gustaf Hellqvist made some illustrations engraved by Carl Leonard Sandberg and was given out in more then one version, of which the one from 1917 is scanned here.
At 1880 Carl Larsson made many illustrations engraved by J Engberg, W Meyer, R Lindgren, and Evald Hansen, printed by Central-Tryckeriet in Stockholm for C. E. Fritze's Kungl. Hofbokhandel.
