English: The Cumberland Valley Railroad (CVRR) was chartered in 1831 in Pennsylvania, USA. Freight and passenger service began in 1837. It operated in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. The Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) gained control of the CVRR in 1859, and officially purchased it on June 2, 1919.
