This is a subcategory for images of crossbow nuts, a vital crossbow component in crossbows utilising a single axle or twin axle trigger system (also known as a crossbow lock).

The single axle and twin axle crossbow trigger mechanisms were developed and used mainly in Europe, from antiquity throughout the Middle Ages, and into the early modern period. This trigger mechanism differs in several significant ways from the lever and peg mechanisms seen in some of the simplest, all-wooden crossbows, and the trigger mechanisms traditionally used in several East Asian countries (China, Korea).
