Engineer and inventor Claude Hamilton Verity, lived from around 1921 in number 9 East Park Road, Harrogate, England. (Source: 1921 England Census). During his lifetime, his name was spelt "Claud" or "Claude". Verity and his brother Charles Frederick Verity ran a hardware shop at 168–169 Lower Briggate, Leeds, and Verity used part of that building for his experiments in the synchronisation of sound with silent film. His grandfather was Charles Verity, mayor of Doncaster.
