Chatham Dockyard, Kent,England has the finest collection of 18th and 19th century naval dockyard buildings many of which are scheduled as ancient monuments. Mast House and Mould Loft. On the ground floor masts were made and stored. In the mould loft, the lines of the ship were drawn on the floor- and patterns (templates) made. It was here that the lines for HMS Victory were laid down. Built between 1753-8. This is a timber building with ship lap cladding.
