The stronghold and sanctuary are recorded MH (XI-XVI e), they are exceptionally uncommon and noteworthy leftovers of the district and duchy of Alencon, significant of our area, habitation of Peter II of Alençon who made the shut city of Essay and Marguerite de Lorraine for her endowment, then ownership of Margaret of Angouleme-Alençon Navarre, sister of Francis I, grandma of Henry IV, who had made with her better half Charles IV Alencon, the regal monastery of Saint Madeleine Essay in action until the unrest.
