The Catholic Church in Georgia has, since the East-West Schism, been composed of Latin Rite Catholics and Eastern Catholic communities of the Armenian Rite. The latter have existed in the country since the 18th century. A Georgian Byzantine Rite Catholic community existed for a number of centuries; it is now defunct.
