Bristol is a borough in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, 23 miles (37 km) northeast of Philadelphia opposite Burlington, N.J. on the Delaware River. Bristol was first settled in 1681 and incorporated in 1720 making Bristol the third oldest town in Pennsylvania after Chester, and Philadelphia. The population was 9,923 at the 2000 census. The borough has at least 9 sites on the National Register of Historic Places, including several historic districts (including all of "downtown") and buildings by famous architects Thomas U. Walter and Samuel Sloan.
