The Block Drug Store at 101 Second Avenue at the corner of East 6th Street in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City was founded in 1883, its neon sign was installed in 1945. The building it is located in was built c.1877-80 by Julius Boekell and was designed in the Queen Anne style . "In this age of big, homogenous chain drugstores, it' rare to find one family-owned, especially one holding on since 1885 [sic]. Get a load of the vintage sign wrapping the facade..."
