BSR (Birmingham Sound Reproducers) was a British specialty maker of phonograph turntable - both as OEM chassis and complete units under own BSR and Monarch brands. Established in 1932 and actively operating until 1985, when BSR sold its assets and imploded into a small Astec (BSR) company which was soon taken over by Emerson Electric Company. In the 1970s ans early 1980s BSR was known for interesting alliances and mergers, being the owner of ADC (Audio Dynamics Corporation) and co-owner and sponsor of dbx.
