The Bedford Magazine Explosion refers to a series of fires, explosions and concussions erupting from the Bedford Magazine, now CFAD Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada, over a period of two days, 17-18 July, 1945. The event affected the nearby cities of Halifax and Dartmouth, causing widespread evacuations and damaging structures. While damages and casualties ultimately were low in comparison, fear of a repeat of the 1917 Halifax Explosion kept the city on edge.
