       BMW E33 (1988-1994)

In September 1987, BMW undertook the BMW E33 presented by BMW at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1987 for the 1988 model year called the 2 Series E30 because of the design identity as a part of the E30 generation, the convertible did not receive the external update new model until 1990, while the M3 continued to be built as a pre-facelift variant in all variants until the end of production in 1991, except for the headlights, which were converted to lens technology at the same time as the convertible facelift. Additionally, the Touring estate was initially offered as the 320i and 325i, while the 325e model was discontinued. The most obvious changes were a redesigned front apron, completely redesigned the rear of the car as well as the front, making it larger to keep up with the 1990s, BMW models also started to become more modern, better looking and wider from this model onwards, they replaced the chain-driven engines with modern belt-driven engines with more performance, the widening of the rear wings saw the change in the bodywork, The sides of the car were certainly different, that's why the bar on the edges of the sides was redesigned in a modern way and without chrome. The chrome was removed around the side windows of the car, especially at the front and rear, so that some cars were left with a thin chrome line on the side windows, while others had completely chrome-free shawdowline versions and the windows were tinted "green glass", the chrome bumpers gave way to now larger anthracite-coloured plastic bumpers, which could also be painted in body colour on request (this was standard equipment on the "Shadow-Line" version, see below, otherwise it was an extra charge on special request), the bumper inserts usually remaining black. The bumpers now withstand impacts of up to 4 km/h without damage. Their supports, called impact boxes because of their damping function, protect the vehicle chassis from deformation at speeds of up to 15 km/h. The chrome trim, for example on the front and rear windscreens as well as around the door windows (around the rear window and side doors on two-door models), gave way to black plastic parts or black-coated aluminium profiles. The side strips were now made of one piece and without a chrome strip. The grill became thicker made from plastic not from iron like the first Series E30.
