English: The wooden clipper Aviemore was built by Walter Hood & Co. Aberdeen 1870 for Aberdeen White Star Line (George Thompson & Co). Length 214 3/12' x breadth 36 7/12' x depth 22 3/12'. Gross tonnage 1091 tons. 1889 sold to L. G. S. Larsen Sandefjord, Norway and rigged as a barque.[1]
In 1908 converted to floating whale processing factory. Disappeared in the Atlantic Ocean in November 1916, on route from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Liverpool.[2]
