An atmospheric theatre is a (mostly historical) type of theatre / cinema where the roof over the seating areas (and often the remainder of the theatre) was designed to evoke a courtyard or open space beneath a night sky. The designs often incorporated oriental or other 'foreign' architectural motifs.
