History

Ardito (D 550) was a multi-purpose destroyer fit to carry out escort missions, coastal bombardment and support for amphibious operations. The embarked helicopters allowed anti-submarine tasks. On July 16, 1979 started a cruise around the world together the frigate Lupo and returned to the home port on February 4, 1980. Between July 1983 and February 1984 the ship took part in the Lebanon mission. From December 1984 to May 1988 underwent to modernization works. It has been layed on October 1st, 2005.
