"Appendix" Quarter Horses are those with a significant amount of Thoroughbred breeding who must qualify for regular registration by meeting a show or racing standard. The name is because such horses are listed in the "appendix" of the American Quarter Horse Association registry until they qualify for regular registration. Their offspring may also be eligible for full regular registration if certain standards are met.
