On this peace of land, 5 meters below see level,lay at the bottom of the Diemer Lake. The lake was pumped dry in 1629 and its fertile soil became farmland. In 1850 Anna van den Broeke inherited the land and the farm was named the "Annahoeve" (farmstead of Anna). Several families grew food crops and herded sheep and dairy cattle in the decades thereafter. Later the the broader area was gradually transformed into today's Science Park. The old farmhouse is now in use as restaurant The Polder. This place is to remember the history of this area, the work of Anne and her family, the beauty and fertility of this special wetland ecosystem. That is why the place was named after Anneː Anna's Tuin & Ruigte.

The area is designed according to Permaculture principles. Guest can walk around, harvest some berries, have a picnic at the chillout area or check out the willow hut. The main organic garden was built in a no-dig technique with raised beds and to produce compost - "slow decomposition" pile - and a worm hotel. A rain garden drains the excess water from the garden, and a windbreak protects the garden of the cold wind.
