In the year 2016 the "Fair of Alasitas and miniatures of the Altiplano of Puno" was declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation of Peru,[1]p for its expression of popular religiosity with pre-Hispanic roots, adapted to historical circumstances, following the evolution of the needs and longings of the population in a constant process of transformation. This declaration supports that the Alasitas fairs and the ritual use of propitiatory miniatures are part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Peru.

One of the ritual practices that are carried out with Alasitas, is the one where the "Ekeko" has a role, a pre-Hispanic idol who represents abundance and who gets sahuma to achieve the objective represented in Alasita.[2]
