Of the original four Roman bridges across the Penkalas river at Aizanoi (modern Çavdarhisar), two survive and are still in use: one east of the temple of Zeus on Cumhuriyet Caddesi, the other southeast of the temple on Taksim Caddesi (cf. the 1835 plan by Charles Texier). At several points in the river bed the remains of Roman stone embankments and quais are also visible.
