English: Afghanistan was a four-masted iron barque built in 1888 by Richardson, Duck & Co, Stockton for British and Eastern Shipping Co. Liverpool. Dimensions 88,74×12,82×7,38 meters [291'2"×42'1"×24'3"] and tonnage 2,286 GRT and 2,221 NRT. Rigged with royal sails over double top- and topgallant sails. Run down and sunk by the British cruiser Caesar off Dungeness[?] in 1905 June 3. Afghanistan was the sister ship to the same owner's Arracan.[1]
