in an area belonging to the former German colony Togo and is populated mainly by Ewe peoples. The name of this place goes back (according to the tradition of the native population) on a former staying place (and the name of the there residents) after the exodus of the Ewe groups from Nuatia (Nodschie, Notsie) during the reign of the there tyrannic king Agokoli in the 17th century. From various temporary staying places moved one of the then Ewe groups to a location called “Agbenutodzi” (Ewe-language, literally "laying on the Agbenu mountain") and from there finally moved "downhill" to form amongst others the village "Abutia Teti". The reason for the “downhill-move” was that they "...did not satisfy the womenfolk because it required them to make frequent journeys downhill to fetch water, which therefore had to be carried uphill..." (according to the tradition).
