Cymraeg: Pentref ym Mhowys yw Abergwesyn. Saif lle mae afon Gwesyn yn ymuno ag afon Irfon, yng ngorllewin y sir, ar ffordd gefn ychydig i'r gogledd o dref Llanwrtyd ac i'r dwyrain o Lyn Brianne. Mae ffordd tros y mynydd yn cysylltu'r pentref a Llanddewi Brefi a Tregaron yng Ngheredigion. Ar un adeg roedd y ffordd yma yn un o ffyrdd pwysicaf y porthmyn.
