English: The 1933 Plymouth was their first six-cylinder car, costing nine million US dollars to develop. However, the Plymouth Model PC looked rather ungainly and met with buyer resistance. Plymouth nearly immediately added one inch to the wheelbase (making it 108 inches and allowing for the fitment of a fender-mounted spare) to the PC. They also quickly developed a new and better proportioned model using the 112-inch Dodge DP chassis, the Plymouth Deluxe (Model PD) which entered production on March 17, 1933. On April 7, 1933, PC production ended and one week later the Plymouth Standard (Model PCXX) replaced it. With a more upright radiator it closely resembles the longer PD. This profusion of very similar models has made restoring (and identifying) 1933 Plymouths rather difficult.
Originally, PCs and PCXXs have painted headlamp bowls and the PD has chromed ones, but these have often been swapped over the years and does not provide a useful identification aid.
