Information on the sculpture on Flickr. In 1928, Jerome Conner was asked to create a memorial to the Kerry poets, to commemorate four leading Gaelic poets of the 17th and 18th centuries at Killarney. He chose a figure of Éire holding a harp seated on a rock. Due to a number of circumstances, the statue was not made until 1974, and placed in Merrion Square.
