Beamish Museum: Events field

The Events field at Beamish Museum is in the north west corner of the site. It's outside of tramway oval - which counter-intuitively runs along its eastern and southern sides to accommodate the field's position. It's northern edge is bordered by the western half of the Town railway, it's also overlooked by the Waggon & Iron Works to the north west. The field is cut in half by a road which comes from the town - from the north east corner it runs down the east side to the half way point, before cutting across the field east-west, connecting the town to the road entrance of the railway goods yard, and beyond to an external entrance to the site. The field is also the location of the Fairground, which has had at least two different positions in the field - originally it was on the west side, on the small patch of hard standing opposite the road entrance to the railway goods yard, on the south side of the cross field road. It has since been moved to the north east corner, closer to the Town, into the corner nearest the signal box/eastern footbridge of the railway.
