English: (2) Pallas was the second asteroid to be discovered and is the third most massive object in the asteroid belt, estimated to contain 7% of the region's entire mass. It was discovered on March 28, 1802, by German astronomer Heinrich Wilhelm Matthäus Olbers and named after the mythological figure Pallas Athena, an alternate name for the goddess Athena.
