User talk:Awesome Aasim
File:Osu! screenshot.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Are you sure showing the safari top bar is illegal (the screenshot of a tech support scam)?
[edit]It is a screenshot that I got redirected from when visiting a news site, clearly the nature of the copyrighted work is that safari is a BROWSER (a software that lets the user access the internet), and the screenshot is a STILL IMAGE.
Whose purpose is to show evidence like this is a tech support scam, and that it does not show any other safari features, and finally, how does this affect Apple financially?
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.207.81.187.41 23:41, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
Question about the grammar nazi logos
[edit]Why were the grammar nazi logos deleted? is it because they seemed inappropriate? Adinar0012 (talk) 01:45, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Adinar0012 See Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_in_Category:Grammar_Nazi_icons. If you disagree with the outcome there is always Commons:Undeletion requests, but you might want to contact the closing administrator first. Aasim (talk) 03:26, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
Be careful when requesting file deletion
[edit]It seems like you too often add deletion nominations to logos that are just text, especially on games made by miHoYo/Cognosphere PTE.LTD (namely the Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero game logos).
Please note that you should not carelessly add the file to the deletion nomination if the file does not meet the copyright protection threshold. Proposals to deletion text-only logos can be rejected because they do not meet the copyright protection threshold (including company and game logos originating from China).
Thank You. Astrinko (talk) 05:37, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- I get your concerns. However, when it comes to TOO and copyright it is better to be safe than sorry. I don't disagree the text logos are below the TOO in the US. However, China if even calligraphy or handwriting can be copyrighted, it may be better to play it safe. We can always have PD-Ineligible-USonly on local projects. Aasim (talk) 05:49, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- I also suggest you look at the deletion requests. All only had consensus to keep the wordmark. COM:TOO#China Aasim (talk) 05:51, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- From your edit history, you deliberately nominated the deletion of the file on the Genshin Impact logo with the Latin text version. The Japanese and Korean versions of the Genshin Impact logo were also removed, even though there is no Chinese law which states that logos using Japanese and Korean characters are protected by copyright. In fact, these logos have been removed by the Commons admin. Astrinko (talk) 10:37, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- there is no Chinese law which states that logos using Japanese and Korean characters are protected by copyright Copyright law is messy and often settled by court precedents, not by Commons deletion requests. It is that different countries have different opinions; the United States does not think handwritten text or typefaces are subject to copyright, China appears to think so from my understanding.
- I don't think it is productive to engage further. You can share your opinion on those deletion requests if you'd like on those relevant pages. Aasim (talk) 15:28, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- Can you please explain which Chinese law states that logos that only use Latin text are considered copyrighted? Astrinko (talk) 15:43, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
