Your last renaming requests

[edit]

Hi,

Regarding your renaming requests for:

I would like to know why you prefer compacted names rather than names or words spaced between them (or with commas) which would be much more meaningful for everyone?

Rgds. --Poudou99 (talk) 19:44, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it would be an improvement instead of a disimprovement, I'm sorry. L'Mainerque (talk) 19:47, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe. As a French speaker, I wonder if the spaced out names wouldn't make a lot more sense to non-English speakers reading the title of the images. --Poudou99 (talk) 19:55, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Is there some sort of policy related to spacing out the names? L'Mainerque (talk) 19:57, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
These could help : Commons:File naming and Commons:File_renaming#FR2 (To change from a meaningless or ambiguous name to a name that describes what the image particularly displays). --Poudou99 (talk) 20:11, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing obvious saying that file names have to be spaced out, but thank you.
I also tagged my rename as original uploader's request (FR1), so FR2 has no basis in this discussion.

OK. I leave the final decision to you, another renamer will process your requests. Brgds, --Poudou99 (talk) 20:22, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Keep the compactness, but make the abbreviations full words (like Oct to October, St to Street, etc), maybe that will make reading it easier while at the same time being similar to my own preferences.
