Wiki Loves Onam Campaign Rules
To be considered for judging in our photo campaign, images must adhere to the following rules:
Rule 1: All photos must be taken by the person submitting them. Unless, they are uploaded during a registered mass upload session. Your image must have your name or username on the uploaded file and those contributors uploading media must possess the copyrights to the submitted content.
Rule 2: Entries will only be accepted if uploaded between the 1st September to 30th September 2024. You can upload the media related to Onam that was taken at any time, even historic photographs (as long as you own the copyright on these photographs or they are in the public domain), but they must be uploaded during those dates. Photographs that are already on Wikimedia Commons and re-uploaded are not eligible.
Rule 3: Participants must be registered on Wikimedia Commons and be contactable. Participants should have an account on Wikimedia platform and also have enabled the e-mail on Wikimedia Commons from the your preferences when registering so that we can contact you if your image is chosen for a prize.
Rule 4: All entries submitted to the contest must be under a free license (or in the public domain). In most cases, the photo will automatically be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 (CC-BY-SA 4.0). Read more about the cc-by-sa license here.
Rule 5: Images must be larger than 2 MB and should not contain watermarks or embedded signatures to be eligible for consideration for the prize Photos with destructive or promotional watermarks are not entertained for this campaign. Participants are welcome to submit images of any file size to showcase their work. However, to be eligible for the prize, images must meet a minimum file size of 2 MB. Please take note that you might be asked to re-upload your picture without a watermark, in case it is considered by the jury. Please find more information about watermarks usage on Commons here.
Rule 6: Pictures or media must be categorised under Images from Wiki Loves Onam 2024 to be eligible. If you are uploading the image from the button of the main page it will be automatically added to it.
Rule 7: To be considered for the video prize, the file must be uploaded in a video format (.ogg, .ogv, or .webm) that is accepted on Wikimedia Commons.
Judging criteria 
Effort put into select subject and taking photograph
Quality of description provided in any language
Value in terms of usage on any Wikimedia project
Value based on uniqueness
Technical quality (sharpness, use of light, perspective, composition, etc.)
Criteria for rejection 
Suspected of copyright violation
Lack of full EXIF information
Excessive processing & use of unrealistic filters
Lack of proper title and description
Vague or unfaithful documentation
Presence of watermarks
