Slavic for 'Sunday'

[edit]

Hi! Slavic for 'Sunday' is not 'day after the week'. It's the 'day after Sunday': ponedělъkъ. It's just that Russians started using the word for 'Sunday' as the name for the whole week (by synecdoche), so Russian понедельник looks as if it was the 'day after the week', but originally it was not so - and it is not the case for the rest of Slavic, which uses a different word for 'week'.
