UN Buffer Zone
[edit]UN Buffer Zone is not "in" but "on" Cyprus. It is totally autonomous. It has nothing to do with the Greek Cypriot administration that has abducted the name of "Republic of Cyprus" and "Cyprus" since the Bloody Christmas of 1963. The federal republic on the island does not exist since then and the UN has its own zone or territory (whose future will be decided if a peaceful solution is found to the Cyprus problem in the future). The UN even has its own license plates and does not use license plates like the UN bodies in other counries. (For example in Madrid or Ankara or wherever else they use the diplomatic or "IO" - "OI" international organization license plates issued by the host country. Not "on" Cyprus. Therefore this picture does not belong to the country that calls itself "Cyprus (sic)" but to the Green Line UN Zone on the "island". --E4024 (talk) 02:14, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- @E4024: Are you suggesting we replace all instances of "in Cyprus" with "on Cyprus" in the context of the UN-controlled no man's land and treat it as an autonomous territory? See Category:United Nations Buffer Zone in Cyprus.
- WD and many Wikipedias have separate items for Cyprus (country) and Cyprus (island). I adapted it here but reverted without arguments, although I opened a discussion on it. (They preferred to avoid discussing, a democratic method, and chose "imposing"). I am not even giving a link. Look for yourself at WD and WPs, and if you feel like helping me to separate things just as they are (we are neither politicians nor international law experts, we must only reflect the state of affairs on the island) you know where to find me. - It should be placed here like the two States and the two "sovereign" bases on the Island. It (that territory) does not belong to Greek Cyriots. It belongs to the Island, therefore to all the peoples on it, and will be partioned accordingly between the two States, when time comes. If the Greeks had not stalled the talks for more than half a century hoping that the Turks would give up, today there would be a strong Confederation on the island with two nation-States and probably no sovereign bases etc. (My personal opinion, the last sentence.) - Ah, about the license plates, look at the relevant cat (and its history) and the gallery of license plates to see that they are "UN plates" not of "any country". E4024 (talk) 02:58, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
